The “Iron Bridge”

An early cast-iron structure, built in 1823 for the tramway that brought sea sand from the beach to the wharves of the inner harbour and thence by the canal to manure the hinterland. Grid Ref: SS 2037 0646 [BUh-001-000]

Lock No.18. Grid Ref: SK 8446 3501 [GR-046-260]. Photo taken from the railway embankment for the ironstone railways south of Belvoir. After closure of the canal, the railway bridge was replaced by a continuation of the embankment and the footpath from the former towpath diverted over the top of it.
