'Gifford' was built in 1926 by Nursers of Braunston for Thomas Clayton (Oldbury) to carry liquids. It was purchased by M H Bunford[?] of Shebdon in 1966, sold to Edward Paget Tomlinson in 1970. The completeion of Shelmore Embankment was delayed by two years because it repeatedly slipped. It has never since been completeoly stable.
