Plaque on the stone that marks the official source of the river. Grid Ref: ST 9805 9953. It reads "THE CONSERVATORS OF THE RIVER THAMES. 1857–1974. THIS STONE WAS PLACED HERE TO MARK THE SOURCE OF THE RIVER THAMES".

Coates Round House. 2020

Grid Ref: SO 9701 0012 [TS-017-230]. Built for the Lengthsman/Watchkeeper between 1792 and 1792, this one was extended in about 1900 by building the scullery on the side and converting the ground floor stable into living accommodation. It has an inverted conical roof to collect rainwater for the house.

Grid Ref: SO 9701 0012 [TS-017-230]. Interior of the building. On the bottom left is the door to the scullery extension. To the upper right is the stair recess and handrail connecting the middle and upper levels and centre left is the more substantial rail added between the ground and middle levels when the accommodation was modified.

Fencing round Sapperton Tunnel shaft. 2020

Grid Ref: SO 9607 0128 [TS-015-690]. More substantial and better maintained fencing round the third shaft from the eastern end of the tunnel as it is close to several paths. There were 26 shaft sunk for the construction of the tunnel, one of which did not reached the tunnel level.

Grid Ref: SU 0311 9965 [TS-025-800]. Lock 2 of the Siddington flight with the third one in the distance. The flight was the start of the eastern decent from the summit level.

Grid Ref: SO 9294 0300 [TS-011-420]. Appears to read: W+D 1784.

Sapperton Tunnel Shaft. 2020

Grid Ref: SO 9633 0095 [TS-016-100]. This is the second shaft from the eastern end of the tunnel. Most tunnels have brickwork above the shafts to prevent anything falling down them but those on the T&S are simple fenced off. In this case, the barbed wire fence had mostly collapsed.

Grid Ref: SO 8585 0396 [TS-002-860]. In the distance is Griffin's Lock (No.4) which is 300m away but the view has been foreshortened by taking the picture from about 100m from the bridge with a high zoom.

Thames Head. 2020

Grid Ref: ST 9805 9953. The picture was taken from the small ring of stones that mark the official source of the river, albeit that a reliable flow does not occur for about 1.4km. The trees behind are on the embankment for the Thames & Severn Canal.
