'IDA-D' was a general cargo ship, 494 tonnes gross, 265 net. Built 1955 by Gebr. Bodewes, Scheepswerf 'Volharding', Foxhol, Groningen, Netherlands, for E. Wagenborg's Scheepvaart- & Expeditiebedrijf N.V., Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. Sold 1970 and renamed 'Hoocrest'. Compton Queen on Staffs & Wocs Canal
Compton Queen' Motor Boat, Wolverhampton, Early 20th cent. The steam powered 'Compton Queen' motor boat taking passengers from Newbridge. It was run, along with others in the fleet by the name of 'Margaret' and 'Victoria', by Arthur Beech who had premises at Lock House, Compton. The trips were daily and took in Coven, Calf Heath and Brewood, returning at dusk, with extra sailings during public Holidays. Fares for the trips were one shilling for adults and sixpence for children. Rowing boats were also for hire.
