Some of the buildings at Saltisford Basins were demolished in March 1964, and this view is one of a set which show the start of the demolition work. Weedon Arm and Railway Bridge. 1964
Picture taken from the depot side of the high level route of the railway that replaced Stevenson's lower level line that required a sliding railway bridge where it crossed the arm. The weir is on the extreme left and straight ahead is the navigation channel to the site of Lucy's Locks, albeit that by this time, the lock had been filled in. Grid Ref: SP 2016 5416 [WA-007-030]. Welford Arm. Derelict lock
This is the only lock on the arm. Grid Ref: SP 6396 8131 [GE-002-950]. The Lift Bridge 70m below the tail of the lock lead to Welton Mill. It became disused before 1888 but the remains of buildings were still marked on maps surveyed in 1961.
