The building for the water wheel was erected in 1819, that for the steam engine in 1860. The chimney was demolished in October 1972.

Old Dock House at Sharpness. 1967

Grid Ref: SO 6684 0309 [OA-001-650]. The tide gate in the foreground was the original entrance to the canal when opened in 1827. It was superseded in 1874 by entrance into the new docks designed to take larger vessels.

In background on either side of the house are the approach viaduct and the two wide spans of the Severn Railway Bridge. During demolition, these were too heavy to lift and had to be slid off and broken up and retrieved from the river bed.

Old Halt at Ilton GWR Chard Branch.13/09/72

Grid Ref: ST 3441 1692 [CD-010-530]. The halt was on Cad Road which the canal crossed 200m to the east. May Weaver standing on halt. The railway was completed in 1866 and bought the canal, which had already failed as a commercial venture, for £5945 in the same year. Whist the railway ran close to the canal for some distance, only at only one point just north of Chard Reservoir, does it appear to have possibly been built over it.

Possibly Welford Lock. Grid Ref: SP 1434 5216 [WA-016-050]. If so, the channel has now been filled in and a new one dug to the left for the approach to the new WA Cadbury Lock.

Some of the buildings at Saltisford Basins were demolished in March 1964, and this shows the start of the demolition work on what Philip Weaver calls "the old weigh house". Grid Ref: SP 2778 6531 [GF-002-160]. On the left can be seen the factory of Wallwin engineers, and to the left of the weigh house is the Antelope pub, which is the only building in this view which still exists in 2024, apart from the spire of St Mary's church in the background. A sign on the gate says 'J Carroll & Sons Ltd Contractors, Coventry 65179', and a sign on the wall says "Warwick Production Co Ltd, Engineers' The building in the distance above the wharf wall was the Eagle Engineering Works, the site now being occupied by Sainsburys and its car park.

This and the Antelope Inn behind the Weigh House are the only buildings in this view which still existed in 2024, apart from the spire of St Mary's church in the background. A sign on the gate says 'J Carroll & Sons Ltd Contractors, Coventry 65179'. The site is now occupied by the junction of Vittle Road with the A425.
