Bridge No.4, Grid Ref: SP 7233 5617 [GN-002-320]. Looking down the locks, a lift bridge at Lock 5 can be seen. To the right of the picture, the hedge that approaches the canal marks the line of the L&NWR Northampton to Peterborough Branch that left the main line at Blisworth Junction. It is not known if the photo pre or postdates its closure in 1964 but above the nearby clump of bushes on the left bank of the canal can be seen the embankment for the M1, opened in 1959. The A34 now covers much of the line of the railway but not at the point where it was closest to the canal so as to reduce the road noise impact on the canal.Looking down the flight from North Street.
