The truck is open ended and has hinged sides to ease the loading of carriages. Note the gearing at each end of the sole bar presumably providing a hand operated winch. Scenery Trucks were regularly used by travelling theatre groups to transport their stage props around the country attached to passenger trains on which the troupe were travelling. GNR Orchid Van No 964
Six wheeled van for the conveyance of orchids by passenger train. Legend on side of van states "To be returned to Sander's Sidings (St Albans). Orchids were collected in the Victorian era and rare specimens could be auctioned for large sums. Sanders of St Albans was one of the foremost orchid growers. GNR Petrol Rail Motor No.3
This railcar had a driver's cab at each end and seats for 32 passengers in an open saloon. It was built by Dick, Kerr and Co. of Preston and powered by a Daimler 4-cylinder petrol engine. Van for the sorting of mail sitting on two four-wheeled bogies. The van has round ends and loading doors away from the end of the van. Built in Doncaster in 1905 the locomotive section was built on a four wheeled truck with the carriage having a four wheeled bogie, the two parts were connected by a pivot. The coal bunker was between the loco and the luggage compartment on the carriage section of the unit. The rear compartment doubled as a driving position.
