The original fixed bridge (https://www.layersoflondon.org/map/records/deptford-creek-bridge-1896) was heavily damaged during WWII, closing it to river traffic and at some time after May 1947 a temporary single leaf bascule bridge with its counterweight above the roadway was built 25m to the south (https://www.facebook.com/groups/6143110432467287/posts/7443509629094021/). The bridge shown was built in 1954 but that makes the presence of the tram interesting as tram services in London reportedly ceased in 1952.

The building stood at the head of the Old Wharf on the east side of what is now known as Gas street Basin. It had an octagonal central building with wings either side, with gated entrances. Huge ornamental globes holding gas lamps are in the traffic island in front of the building and at the end of Paradise Street (which is mainly behind the photographer). There is a horse-drawn coal cart near right-hand entrance

A group of directors and ladies taken at the Riny (Priory Hall in Priory Park, Dudley). Taken during an annual inspection of the Birmingham Canal Navigations. Sir Gilbert Claughton is seated in the middle of the front row Keith G Collyer sent the following information to the BCN Society in 2009 “I am enclosing a photo of a photograph we have of the Canal Inspection held in July 1912. My wife’s great grandfather was Albert Henry Pearshouse who worked for the Birmingham Canal Company for 50 years until his retirement in 1927. During that time he had passed through most of the departments until his appointment as Chief Accountant in 1914 finally rising to the position of General Manager before retiring in 1927. On this photpgraph, taken in 1912 he was, I believe, the secretary of the company and is standing at the left of the picture. (It could well be that this was taken of the governors before they embarked from Gas Street Basin at the back of the offices for the trip to Dudley with their friends and ladies). There is also a copy of another photo of the 1912 inspection taken on the steps of the office in which my wife’s great grandfather is standing on the right of the picture in a bowler hat. The original of this is held in the National Railway Museum in York.

The three-arch overbridge was photographed looking south from the south entrance to Quarry tunnel. The Quarry Line was opened in 1899 by the LBSCR, bypassing the original line through Merstham and Redhill owned by the South Eastern Railway. It now serves as the Fast lines from London Bridge/Victoria to Gatwick Airport and Brighton.

The 27 brick arch viaduct, between Brighton and London Road stations, is 1,200 feet (370 m) long, and reaches a maximum height of 67 feet (20 m) above the floor of the valley. It consists of 26 semi-circular arches each of 30 feet (9.1 m) with piers of 7 feet (2.1 m) thick at the base and 5 feet (1.5 m) thick at the top, together with one elliptical arch of 50 feet (15 m) over a section of the A23 London Road called Preston Road. A 4-car EMU is crossing the viaduct

The centring is still in place under two of the arches, and the parapet is partly built. It is 203 yards long with ten elliptical arches of 50 feet span, 92 feet high. It was constructed of mass concrete with pre-cast concrete voussoirs, and was one of the earliest major structures of the type in England, and the second highest of the type. The branch opened 24 August 1903 and closed 29 November 1965
