Union Pacific Railroad Nos. 51 & 58 Gas Turbine Locomotives. 1955 (Ref: 010686)
No. 51 was being lifted to test the 270 ton Whiting crane installed in tUnion Pacific's Salt Lake City Diesel Shop, believed to be the largest railroad travelling crane West of the MIssissippi. It was the first time one of the 4500 HP locomotives, fully loaded with trucks, has ever been lifted. Note that these locos differ from the prototype (no. 50) by only having a cab at one end.
