LNER Coronation train with observation car
The Coronation train ran between Kings Cross and Edinburgh in six hours hauled by an A4 Pacific locomotive. Starting in July 1937 the train ran until the second world war leaving London at 16:00 and Edinburgh at 16:30. The observation cars (commonly known as "beavertails") were added in the Summer. The LNER built the two cars in 1937 numbered. 1719E and 1729E. Both cars currently (2021) reside on the GCR
