The simple station was opened, on a request basis, on 1 October 1858 by the Morayshire Railway, on its 3½ mile line from Orton to Rothes. It closed on 1 August 1866, after the direct line from Rothes to Elgin opened, but could still be used on a toll basis. The line was reduced to siding status until lifted in 1907
