Johnson designed compound loco built at Derby in 1902 as No. 2632 in the 2632 class. The class was renamed and the loco renumbered to 1000 by Deeley in 1907. It was rebuilt in 1914. In 1959 it was restored to its 1914 condition state and given a maroon livery. It is believed that these photographs represent the loco shortly after this restoration. The small plaque above the cylinder references The Highland Rly Co. and has the date 1914.
