Leicester Campbell Street Station 1896 (SPC5 @ 99m 7ch) (Ref: 030225)
The station was opened by the Midland Counties Railway in 1840 as Leicester and renamed Leicester Campbell Street. In the 1890s this building had become incapable of handling the volume of the traffic and the current Leicester Station building was built to replace it. This image of the grand colonnaded front of Campbell Street station was taken in 1896 after the building had ceased to serve passengers.
