Carlisle Citadel Station 1956 (ELR WCM1 @ 0m 0ch.)
The station was designed by Sir William Tite and built between 1846 and 1848 for the Caledonian and Lancaster and Carlisle Railways. Trains started running from the station before completion in September 1847. This image shows the frontage of the station as at 3 May 1956 with an array of 1950s cars and vans with a Landrover that could have arrived today!
