Over the river Taff, and the Penydarren tramroad of 1802, with the stone sleeper blocks upon which Trevithick’s steam engine first ran still in situ. The viaduct was built in 1886, later affected by the underground movements of the coal workings of Deep Navigation Pit in Treharris, and had timber reinforcement inserted to support the arches
