Siddington Locks. 1990s
Locks 2 and 3 in the flight taken from Overtown (or Upper Siddington) Bridge, Grid Ref: SU 0306 9967 [TS-025-750]. Note the two sets of lock gate recesses from when the locks were shortened by 20ft in 1842. The use of Thames Barges has ceased by this time and the locks were wasteful of water, which was in short supply on the canal. In order to retain the original ground paddles, a brick arch was built over the top section of the lock as far as the new upper cill.
