Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No 48518, formerly LMS 8518, in scrapped condition in Barry Scrapyard
No 8518 was built in 1944, and was the only surviving LNER-built example. Formerly part of the 'Barry Ten' (the collection of ten unsold scrapyard steam locomotives that were removed from Woodham Brothers in 1990 when Dai Woodham retired), 48518 was used as a parts donor for 1014 County of Glamorgan and 45551 The Unknown Warrior. It was consequently dismantled and the frames were scrapped at Bury in mid-2013.
