Deep Duffryn Colliery, Mountain Ash. Peckett 0-6-0ST "Sir Gomer" shunting.
The colliery was sunk in 1850, and closed in 1981. “Sir Gomer”, a class OX1 locomotive, was built by Peckett & Sons in 1932 and delivered new to the Mountain Ash Colliery. It is now preserved at Shackerstone on the Battlefield line heritage railway. The photo was taken from "Mount Bridge", and the steam shed is just out of shot to the left.
