Opened by British Rail as part of the then-axed Picc-Vic tunnel project in March 1980, as the northern terminus of the Bury-to-Manchester heavy railway line. Photo taken in BR days, before the line was taken over by Manchester Metrolink in 1992. The code "HE" on the signal relates to Hagside signalbox.
