Morwellham Inclined Plane. March 1998
This appears to be near a small pond at at the end of a leat from the canal near the tunnel, Grid Ref: SX 44453 69866. The incline has a fall of 237 feet. Unlike the Bude and Rolle Canals, which had wheeled boats, here the boats were off-loaded onto waggons which, at the foot of the incline, tipped their contents into estuary vessels. Power was provided by a water-wheel.
