Eyton Lower Lock (1960)
This lock was widened in 1833 so that conventional narrowboats could get to Shrewsbury once the Newport Branch opened. The guillotine gate was never altered from its original design, with a wheel and axle lifting gear and the counterbalance over the tailbay. (29 May 1960)
