The former Montgomeryshire Canal and the Llanymynech & Weston Lullingfields sections of the Ellesmere Canal. The canal was effectively closed as a consequence of its breach in 1936. The name 'Montgomery Canal' was formally recognised in an Act of Parliament of 1987.
