Middlewich, Wardle Lock (No 4). 2001
Strictly speaking, this is not the final lock on the Shropshire Union's Middlewich Branch but the only lock on the Trent & Merwey's Wardle Branch —hence it is not a SU-style house. The Trent & Mersey were able to impose a large compensation toll here until 1894. (22 August 2001)
