Rowson's Bridge (1) (1959)
The Shropshire Union Canal regarded the main line of the 'Welsh Branch' to be that which descended Frankton Locks and went on to Llanymynech, Welshpool and Newtown. The 'Llangollen Branch' was less important. Hence the bridges were numbered from Hurleston Junction to Newtown, and those on the Llanymunech Branch were numbered from 1 at Frankton Junction. In the 2010s a suffix 'W' was added, so that what was now called the Llangollen Canal did not have any bridges with the same number as other bridges. (18 October 1959)
