Built in 1790 when the Thames and Severn Canal joined the Thames at Inglesham, the high tolls at this lock charged by Edward Loveden Loveden of Buscot Park was one of the reasons for the failure of the T&S and the construction of the North Wilts Canal to bypass it.Buscot Lock. Grid Ref: SP 2958 0027 [TR-013-850]. The weir is in the style of the flash lock that existed before the pound one was built in 1892. The vertical sections (paddles) were still used but the removable horizontal ones (rymers) have been replaced with a fixed structure.
