Along the northern section of the canal there are several abandoned or semi abandoned loops, from the 1834 shortening, on which some of the photos are located, but these do not have a CRT code. The loops have been given a canal code including a third, lower case, character (e.g. OXc) which denotes the particular loop or group of them. The Location Code will therefore take the form, [OX-008-800/OXf-005-900] where the first part is the CRT code is at the nearest point at which the loop leaves, crosses or rejoins the main line. In the case shown, the OXf loops cross the current line of the canal four times so there are five possible CRT start main line codes. Where abandoned loops existed, a map of them has been included at the start of the relevent sub album.
