In this section, the 1834 shortening cut three quarters of a miles off the length of the canal leaving redundant loops along the 'Barby Straight' and two small ones at Hillmorton and Willoughby. Because of the complications caused by the section between Braunston Turn and the entrance to the marina, where the Grand Junction Canal started, a map is included showing where pictures in this area are located.
