Bridge over the southern junction of the Wyken New Colliery Loop. c.1969
Taken from Bridge 9 (Stone Bridge) looking in the direction of Hawkesbury. Specifically, this was a loop of the canal replaced in the 1834 shortening but retained as it gave access to the colliery arm. The bed has since been infilled and the bridge removed. It was one of the many Horseley cast iron bridges over the old loops that still had some traffic. The ironwork of the bridge was reused to create a bridge over the River Sherbourne at Spon End in Coventry. Grid Ref: SP 3767 8293 [OX-003-950]
