This section includes Loops Made Redundant by 1834 Shortening, including the nearly mile long piece of canal between the current junction with the Coventry at Hawkesbury and the original one at Longford where the two waterways ran for nearly a mile a few yards apart due to the Coventry wanting trade to travel as far along their line as possible before entering the Oxford. There is also a branch to the old Wyken colliery and a now filled in loop of canal bypassed in the 1834 shortening that led to other branches to the new Wyken collieries. The branch to Wyken old colliery is still used by Coventry Canal Cruising Club.

Inscribed 'Britannia Foundry, Derby, 1837' so postdating the Horseley towpath bridges used to cross the semi abandoned loops when the Oxford was shortened in 1834 but presumably a replacement for the original bridge over the junction when it was made in 1785. The LNWR branch line crossed the original and long-abandoned line of the Oxford canal that ran parallel and next to the Coventry for nearly a mile to a junction at Longford until the one at Hawkesbury was made in 1785. This bridge is adjacent to the Coventry Canal between Coney Lane bridge and Hawkesbury Junction, and south of the current Oxford Canal route. Grid ref.
