Brownhills Bridge (No.15) Higher Poynton. 18 November 1961.
Grid Ref: SJ 9450 8321 [MA-006-910]. The canal has been drained due to a leak. Picture taken from the towpath bridge over the arm to Lord Vernon's Wharf. Some old wooden coal barges are on the left, normally submerged in what was a mooring bay for the wharf. The bridge has a flat deck, as do several in this section so that they can be raised if the canal subsides due to the coal mining in the area. Boats moored behind the stop planks are opposite the 'Wide Pool' caused by subsidence.
