East end of Standedge Tunnel, Marden. 1978
Grid Ref: SE 0396 1192 [HN-013-640]. Canalside building boarded up. In the background is the aqueduct carrying the spillway from the Tunnel End Reservoir (now silted up) over the railway. The original spillway crossed the top of the tunnel on the level and required the portal to be moved 10m to the east. Note the semaphore distant signal.
