Standedge Tunnel Inspection. November 1st 1956.
In the rock-lined section through Yorkshire Shales which consist of alternate layers of mudstone and siltstone and are friable. Restoration of the tunnel required that several areas required stabilisation with rock bolts, steel mesh and sprayed concrete.
