Grid Ref: SJ 5043 8314 [BWm-047-230]. This is the top chamber of the pair of tide locks that originally connected the River Mersey to the bottom basin of the canal. Bridgewater House was built as a residence for the Duke of Bridgwater during the canal's construction but after his death, became the canal offices.
