Behind the wharf houses in the foreground was a wharf and basin. Wharf Street Bridge, Grid Ref: SJ 8938 9121 [ANs-008-640], over the canal can just be seen between the wharf houses and the row of terraced ones in the distance. Everything in this picture has been demolished and replaced by hard standing for factory units.
