Grid Ref: SE 35972460 [AW-006-470]. “For avoiding the dangerous shoals in the circuitous parts of the River there”. Lake Lock private cut, eventually part of the Aire and Calder Navigation. Later replaced by the much longer New Cut via Stanley Ferry Aqueduct and Birkwood Lock to the south.
