Heybridge Sea Lock Flood Gate. 1977
This is the final gate on the lock with the mitre facing the sea to prevent water entering the canal during high tides. The balance beams are angled and connected by the cable to an electric winch that can also be used to open the gate. The wooden beams have since been replaced by fabricated steel ones.
